Cream Cheese Puffs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pastry Dough:
    • In a medium saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil over medium heat.
    • Stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
    • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until smooth.
  2. Bake the Puffs:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet, leaving space between each.
    • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and puffed. Let them cool completely.
  3. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth.
    • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
    • Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese, add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Assemble the Cream Puffs:
    • Once the pastry puffs are cooled, cut them in half horizontally.
    • Spoon or pipe the cream cheese filling onto the bottom half of each puff.
    • Place the top half back on to create a sandwich.
  5. Serve:
    • Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
    • Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving to allow the filling to set.
